Politici zijn zelden of nooit briljante kunstenaars, hoogstens schrijvers. Artiesten, de meest toonaangevende, zijn blijkbaar ook de meest afwijkende door wat er zich afspeelt in hun hersens, missen de emotionele stabiliteit die het ambt doorgaans vereist. Zelfs als hun beleid op zich goed is, hun privé-perikelen maken hen vatbaar voor chantage en kunnen uitmonden in schandalen die kunnen leiden tot afzetting. Deze drie zijn blijkbaar geen uitzondering.

Ik heb me het al vaker afgevraagd. Wat zouden psychiaters vinden van dat nog maar eens ongeleid projectiel genaamd prins Laurent en zijn zo lang nogal als sukkelachtig beschouwde broer? Bij onze politici lijkt het nogal mee te vallen. Belgen horen nu eenmaal compromissluiters te zijn, en misschien zorgt dat voor een filtereffect.
Vandaag gehoord op de Nederlandse TV: 1 op 100 binnen het autismespectrum. Voeg dat bij de op 1 % geschatte psychopaten. Hoeveel parlementsleden hebben we? Zouden “we” dat eigenlijk niet moeten weten? Tja, het heeft niet veel zin om daar over na te denken. Maar als je jezelf een aantal keren in het gezelschap van Ronald Janssen bevond in de jaren ’90, dan kleurt dat toch enigszins je mensbeeld.
