PEDAL in Brussels
27-31 March 2011
PEDAL begins its 100 days BIKE journey to the West Bank on the 19-20 March in London in solidarity with the Palestinian people and all local struggles for social and environmental justice. From 27 untill the 31 of March they will be in Brussels participating in a series of workshops, meetings and a mass critique/lobby tour to explore themes around PEDAL’s journey such as the Boycott Divestment Sanctions movement, Art & Permaculture, Environmental Justice, Consensus decision-making and Storytelling.

PEDAL’s arrival in Brussels
20h > Table d’hôte + a film screening
On Sunday we will give a warm welcome to the PEDAL collective which is arriving to Brussels after stops in Heathrow and Calais. A meal offered at the “123” will provide the perfect setting to get to know the collective and their stories. Afterwards there will be a film screening related to the “liberate the seeds” campaign followed by a discussion.

Alliances, strategies and solidarity building around Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS)
17h > BDS meeting: exchanging experiences and becoming involved (Calcutta Room)
This meeting will provide a platform to exchange experiences and strategies between organizations and individuals engaged in the Belgium BDS movement and the PEDAL collective. It will be an opportunity to learn from each other and to come up with ideas that pushes forward new alliances and expands the scope of BDS actions. The meeting is open as well to those who would like to learn more about BDS and become involved in the movement.
20h > PEDAL: an introduction (Arenberg Room)
The PEDAL collective of organizers, artists, food growers and cyclists will publicly present themselves and the aims and objectives of the project to travel from London to Palestine by bicycle in 100 days. PEDAL will explain how they intend to link and empower groups across their route by building networks with groups who are involved in opposing oppression in Palestine, as well as those creating new worlds and forms of organizing in resistance to social and environmental injustice. The presentation is followed by a discussion and afterwards we can have a drink at the Pianofabriek bar.

Land Day & International BDS day of action
10-17h > Bring your workshop, bring your skill or just join in:
“We are everywhere: linking communities & cultures of resistance”
We will share stories, skills and strategies for resistance to build social movements and networks for radical social change. The PEDALs bring with them experiences on facilitation for consensus decision-making, story telling techniques, book sharing, and many more ideas on how to fight oppression and get involved in struggles for global justice. 18h > Lobby tour / Masse critique
Join the special edition of the critical mass / arms lobby tour! The tour will target the corporations and institutions who lobby for the EU arms industry and it will highlight the problematic economic partnerships between the EU and Israel.
Remember to bring your bikes!
